the scene takes place in Sherlock's office.
There are 3 characters: Sherlock, Watson and another man.
The man was about to leave maybe because S insulted him but S managed to
convince the man to sit down. Indeed, thanks to his power of observation and
deduction he could tell him what he did last night.
First Sherlock succeeded in telling the man what he did last night:
he came from Devon.
He took the first train in the morning. He had a disappointing breakfast with a cup of
black coffee. He met a girl.
Then the man said: how on earth did you notice all that?
Finally Sherlock explained him how he managed to understand. (ex: the napkin)
Convince = convaincre.
To manage to + BV = réussir à
to succeed in + V-ing = I succeeded in convincing him
indeed = en effet
disappointing = décevant
disappointed = déçu
a napkin = une serviette de table
to notice= remarquer
how on earth = comment donc...
migh, must, may WS
OMG, I'm telling you I'm sure, she must be the killer!
You may be right.
I might be wrong but I doubt it!
Pour exprimer l'incertitude on utilise des auxiliaires modaux
S + Auxiliaire modal + BV
90% = MUST
apprendre la leçon par coeur.
